Madness! Madness!

I posted my NFE story, and now I have at least four ideas for Madness stories, plus I just posted a contribution to an on-going group story, plus I am itching to get back to a WIP that I let lie fallow while I was working on NFE.

What am I doing? I mean, I have other things to do with my life than write fanfic, but right now they don't seem all that compelling.

I wrote a Madness story, then thought better of it (b/c the ethos seemed more saga than Narnia), and am now pondering another.

as for WIPs, I haven't got one. I was reading gloomily through my writing plans for this year on the www.narniafanfiction.net/forums/ site, and noting how few of them I've actually accomplished - one plan was: to have started another long project.

More saga than Narnia? I'm not sure what that means.

It's not too late to start another long project. :-)

I'm doing better with my writing plans for the year than I thought. The one thing I've completely dropped was the Green Sky idea, but I do mean to get back to it. Probably not this year, though. And I still haven't finished Rapprochement, possibly because it's too much embedded within other stories.

My WIP is the story of Aravis's parents (their courtship and the beginning of their marriage). When I first got the idea, I thought it would be maybe 1000-2000 words of "this is what happened" backstory, but then I decided to flesh it out and now it's 14 chapters (nearly 20,000 words) and about 2/3 finished. Along the way I have had to do a lot of things I hadn't planned on, like draw a map of Calormen and invent Calormene boxing. At least I know where it's going and (more or less) how it ends, and I even have a theory about its overall shape.

I dithered today with starting a longish WIP - but it would be much more episodic than my first two have been. i.e. it would look less like one connected story until quite late, when (I hope) it would all seem to begin to cohere.

I don't know. Not entirely coherent myself. :)

Arrgh. I cannot stop tinkering with my Madness stor(y/ies)! Good thing the reveal is soon. Weirdly, there already seem to be a lot of hits. Is that Snacky and aurilly, or is that just some weird AO3 artifact, do you think?
