transposable_elementI didn't sign up for NFE this year, but I did offer to pinch hit and ended up writing a story:

This is one situation when I really wish I had had a little more time to work on it before it was published, because there are a few things that I would have liked to develop more, especially the father-daughter relationship. But I was already almost a day late getting it in, so I had to leave it as is. It's really my fault because I spent a lot of time dithering before even starting the fic. Fortunately I had the idea of the Giant getting stuck in the marsh already in mind to work with.
