I'm a doofus
Mar. 6th, 2015 04:54 pmFilia had a doctor's appointment this afternoon to get allergy skin testing done (because we think she's "outgrown" her peanut allergy), and I completely forgot about it! This despite the fact that we discussed it last night at dinner and changed our plans for how Filia was going to get to school today, which was not a small deal.
Damn it.
I'm not winning any Mom awards, either.
The really annoying thing is that up until the moment I realized all of this, I was feeling pretty good about myself because I was finally making headway on writing my thesis this afternoon.

Date: 2015-03-07 02:49 am (UTC)Filia is nine, and she was diagnosed with the allergy at 15 months when she broke out in hives after snarfing down a dollop of peanut butter. Luckily it was very clear what had caused the reaction and then it the skin test confirmed it. But that first one is the only reaction she's ever had, so it is clearly a mild allergy -- not one of those terrifying can't-be-in-the-same-room-as-a-peanut situations. A couple of times in the last few years she has accidentally bitten into a peanutty candy without having a reaction (the most recent was a couple of months ago) so we think the allergy may no longer be a factor at all and decided to have her retested. That's what was supposed to happen this afternoon. Sigh.

Date: 2015-03-07 08:26 pm (UTC)She was upset about missing the appointment but was somewhat mollified when I presented her with the next book in the Warriors series, which I had checked out of the library for her. She cheered up even more when I reminded her that we were making lasagna for dinner together using a recipe from a Garfield cookbook (not a bad recipe; heavy on the cheese). So I think I'm forgiven, and the doctor's receptionist was pretty nice about it when I called to reschedule.
